Default Folk Art Carving

I was ask to carve a folk art carving for the local Texas Art Museum for a upcoming folk festival ..

This is the result ..
6 1/2 inches high
Basswood
Carved in the flat plane style

That a great carving and i like the paint job.I love the way you can see the wood through the paint we have not been able to get that right yet on our little guys..And also thank for posting several angles of the guy.

I agree the lighter painting on your carvings Gene is how alot of the Flat Plane Master carvers did their carvings from what Ive seen in picts on line. Your carvings always have such caricature to them with the cuts of the flat plane carving where my carvings I have to paint more to creative that caricature. I always enjoy your carvings! Good job Gene!
