| | Flat Finish Spray I'm looking for a flat finish spray to even out the paint job once the carving has been painted. I've tried the so-called flat finishes available in Lowes, Homedepot, Hobby Lobby, etc. and they all seem to leave a sheen when they dry. I'm looking for something that totally kills any reflection. It should also be oil or waterbased. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks. |

| | Re: Flat Finish Spray hummmm the closest I can think of would be the Deft satin spray. Not sure if that is enough or what you could wipe it down with after dry? maybe one of the new manmade steel wool imitations? I occasionally use Krylon polyurathane when I want a gloss finish....I have not tried their satin finish....wonder how it stacks up? 2.00 a can at wallyworld, might be worth a try |

| | Re: Flat Finish Spray Lynn - Try www.dickblick.com for Blick Studio or call 800-828-4548 and ask for their artist's resource catalog.
Then look for Winsor & Newton sprays.
Winsor & Newton makes so many sprays and I consider them all perfect.
You could do it the easy way and buy that brand in any art supply store but having the Blick catalog in hand is a real treat |

I use a light dusting of Krylon Matte Finish #1311. Krylon has several different matte sprays but this is the only one that works for me.

| | Re: Flat Finish Spray Lynn,
A while back I used some "Folk Art, sanding sealer" to help with my painting. Of course this would be applied before painting and finishing. It did help with painting, but I did not like it because the finished product was too flat, which is what you are looking for. It creates a smooth velvet feel, as advertised.
At any rate, even if you don't use this product, your answer may be to start your flat finish before painting. If that makes any sense.
