Hi, I was hoping somebody could help me out here. A lot of times my figures look like the hat is sitting on the head,,, rather than the head being in the hat. The Jack Price type guys I carve usually look ok,,, but when I try to do a cowboy hat or a bowler, it just looks wrong. Any advice? thanks in advance Steve |

Carve the hat seperately then fit it to the head.

Carl is right...the crown of the hat should be the same size as the widest part of the head. The hat generally sits on the head at or just slightly above the ears. If you get it much higher than that it will look like the hat is sitting on top of the head.

I always start with roughing in the hat. Then do the head to fit into the hat. Tom H |
