Default fishing lure present

Hello Folks. This is a fishing lure hat/coat rack that my son asked me to make him for his Birthday. He gave me a picture of a 3" lure and I enlarged it until I got this size. It's made from a common construction 2"x6" piece of wood.

I am currently taking a blacksmith class and made the fake hooks in my blacksmith class last week. I took an airbrush painting class last month with Orlando Villarreal which helped me alot. And at the Bremen Indiana summer camp I took a fishing lure making class with Bob Lawrence that also aided me in this creation.

I used draw knives to get the shape. I'm pretty happy with the results of a first attempt at something like this and my son loves it.

I really appreciate all the pics and posts others have shared on this forum. It inspires me to try making and carving something new or different from what I have attempted in the past. I'm learning something new everyday on here.

All comments are welcome. Best regards to all and safe carving.

Great idea, that should encourage your Son to hang up his clothes. Well done. Merle

Sounds like you are very well schooled! The lure looks fantastic...I especially love the paint job...very realistic! By the way...I have a lure just a little bigger than that in my tackle box!!!

Hey Paul,
Great job on the fishing lure! You've been busy as a bee with all your classes, thanks for sharing your work.

Innovative idea and great finish. Has it "lured" him into hanging up his things?
