Default Fish carving

I'm just getting back into carving, I have done mostly birds and ducks. I started a crappie 20 years ago and put my carving equipment up so my first project will be to finish the crappie. The body looks OK and I'm up to the head. I think where I'm going to have my problems is with the scales. Never did one before. I have an old nebsburner so I guess my first thing I need to do is get some tips for the scales. Now I will be lost and open for any help that I can get. I never made a scale before and I'm hands on to learn. If any fish carvers out there would want to tell me any secrets for the scales I'm all ears. Any help would be appreciated.

The scasles I do is with my colwood burner it makes it very easy it is a fish scale tip, they come in small med,and large.I start up on the gill plates with the small one then when I get back just behind them I change to the med tip for a short way then move to the large.for me that is the best way. Some folks cut them in and yet others use a pencil and draw them in.I mainly do fish and you can check out my old post or look at Gary Dentino on Face Book to see my work. Good luck and carve safe.
