Default First unfinished spoons

Here are a couple of unfinished spoons I have carved since I have been laid up. Need to figure out what to carve in the handles and the finish I want on them. One is butternut and the other basswood. The basswood handle is curved back on the end
Comments welcomed,good or bad.

Nice looking spoons, Kenny!

As to the carvings, if you're going to use them to eat/cook with, I'd recommend being careful about any carvings at all - you don't want little nooks and crannies on the spoons that are difficult to clean food from...

Hi Kenny,

Those look professionally made. It reminds me of all the spoons our good friend Cliff has carved and shared with us. Thanks.

Kenny, I am impressed! Very nice spoons and I think Cliff would be right proud of you. I missed why you are laid up, hope you are okay.

Kenny, very nice looking bunch of spoons. I agree with the others, they look professionally made.

As for decoration, you might consider burning a vine/ leaf pattern in the handles.

Kenny,
Very nice indeed. You did a terrific job. If you do decide to carve them, be sure to show us what you came up with.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Very nice looking spoons there Ken. I too like the look of the butternut the best. I'd leave that one just as it is.. bet it will really glow once you've put a finish on it.

Woodburning on the basswood one is a neat idea....

Marcia.

They are nice spoons. I have to agree with Claude vis-a-vis nooks and crannies.
