Default First spoon

Well its been some time since I have carved anything, and when I was carving,I would carve spirits. My DAD TUCKER Cliff Nelson,is very sick with cancer, and cant get out of bed any more. And any body that knows my Dad,knows that he is one hell of a carver, one hell of a man, with allot of talent, and most of all one hell of a Dad.A couple of weeks ago my Dad give me all of his caving stuff, and I promised my Dad I would carve him a spoon before he leave us.I will be showing my Dad the spoon on Friday, and giving him the spoon, and hope that likes it.I want to thank every one that has sent my Dad something in the mail or has called him,or has emailed him,or has just commented on his carvings, you are all an amazing bunch people.I must stop now because this is getting hard for me to think about.
Lenny Nelson.

Thumbs up Re: First spoon

I am sure he will be very pleased with your spoon, I think it is a great looking spoon and the way you have pierced the handle looks very original to me. Your dad is one heck of a tough man and I am sure if he could he would be carving right now.

Lenny

The first time I did any woodcarving was to finish a cardinal that my dad had started but became sick and passed away before it was half done, it didn't look that great buy the time I was done with it but I would have loved to have showed it to him. I sometimes have trouble remembering what project I was working on 2 weeks ago but I can remember working on that cardinal like it was yesterday. You have created a lasting memory that will be with not only your dad but with you forever.

You said in your post that your father is "one hell of a dad", he must have been because from the looks of things he helped create one hell of a son.

God bless you and your family in these hard times.

Doug

Lenny, this is just a beautiful spoon. you did good. and I bet your Dad Is very proud of you and now more so that you are taking his tools serious. and knows you are using them. he is leaving them in good hands. I am so sorry I didn't get to know your Dad, I am only a beginner carver. but I will get to see him through you. and I am sure I will learn about him through other carvers. these are tuff times for him, and you. you and your family. have my prayers. Lenny, Your Dad has spoke proudly of you on several occasions here. When you give him that spoon I bet he smilles from ear to ear. He will be pleased to see his tools put to good use.
I haven't met either of you personally, just thru this board. I for one am proud of your Dad. Even though it was tough, he spoke from his heart about getting tested for cancer. Many of us, myself included went and got various tests because of him. Tell him we are all praying for him and all his family. And we miss his smile he always gave us (grin) when he teased us online.
