| | First Show Jitters I'm starting to get a little nervous has the date nears for my first show. My biggest worry is I may get so many orders I will have to turn people down. I only have 3 Eagles and 3 name boards for sale but will be taking orders. Anyone have advice for a rookie. |

| | Re: First Show Jitters Just relax and enjoy the experience,,,even the jittery feelings. It's something new and exciting,,wondering what will happen, and all the other thoughts going through your head.Only you know it's your first,,to everyone else for all they know it's you 100th.If you do get alot of interest,,GREAT! take their name,, tell them you're very busy and you would like to have their business but since everything is hand carved and takes time,,they'll understand and wait for their "number " to come up,e-mail them a picture,,have them send you a check,,clear it and mail them the piece (add S+H).....aww geee,,you've got work to do,,,LOL. But most of all ,, have fun meeting "interesting" people,,talk it up,,,and get your feet wet! It's a hoot being on the other side of the table,,not just a visitor anymore! Also,, don't worry too much about what you bring to show,as long as it's decent quality,,I got my first major commission for a church showing them only pictures of decoys I had carved,,,you never know who'll show up and what they're looking for.Good luck and let us know how it goes.

| | Re: First Show Jitters Thanks Mark, I feel better now. I'm hoping I get a couple of orders to at least pay for the cost of the show. My wife and the manager of the show have sure gotten all our names out there to folks. I'm really looking forward to it. One of these days I'm going to stop by your shop on my way up north. |

| | Re: First Show Jitters You're welcome,,,and more than welcome to stop by my shop Maryland isn't that far,, I like to visit Inner Harbour.I hope you get the orders as well.If not, remember it can be a matter of numbers. One show might not yield much but the next one or two can make up for it.If you end up doing shows regularly you'll be able to figure an average take for each show attended.Well, that's all in the future,,for now just concentrate on getting this first one under your belt and before long you'll be off and running like an old pro! | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
