I uploaded my very first (3) wood spirit carvings in the Carver Galleries, per BobD's instructions. I would appreciate any feedback, with the understanding that I am brand new at carving. "Beginner" is an understatement, so please be gentle with any criticism. Thanks in advance...... David |

Hey David. Those are some nice woodspirits - lots of character and expression, and even some color to brighten them up. You've got what it takes for a carver so being called a beginner is underestimating your abilities. Patrick |

Hi David, just came from the Gallery and your first wood spirits are terrific. Keep going as they say practice, practice. Love the expression on the one with the gray beard. Kathy

Way to go David, you did a great job on your first ones, there is room for some improvement but that will all sort itself out in future carvins. One thing for sure, you definitely don't need any help in setting up for a photo, you've sure done that before. Cliff |

David, For first pieces , excellent. Strong faces, well defined , good expressions, good noses. points to work on , study some of the eye tutorials, to give a bit more depth in you eye sockets, from the lower part of the eye to the cheek . Good starts and nice form a little more depth between the eye and the cheek will help to really make the expression stand out. The beards are good , good flowing lines , but very straight, you might try to give them a little more motion, using s curves making them a bit wavy, that will lead you to layers which will add richness to the beard. Nothing wrong with what you have and very good for first pieces. Ash |
