Default First carving with hand

Hey all,
Just finished this guy. He's the first one I've made that has a hand showing. It was really nerve wracking drilling the hole for the ax. But I think he came out OK. This is another one from Mike Shipley's Country Bear book.

Any critique are welcome. Thanks for looking.

Looks to me like you did a fine job Jim. I like that little guy, great book! Trying one of Shipley's snow men myself this weekend.

Great job Jim, I just picked that book up last week, I look forward to carving that little guy. I made his snow man a while back, good books and good directions.

Jim:
Nice job on Bucky! One suggestion for drilling holes in hands: Drill the hole first, then carve the hand around the drill...

Thanks everyone! The more I carve, the more I like it. I'm keepin' this guy. I identify with him. I've named him Chip! I made some more pine trees to go with him. I'll be painting them today. A friend suggested I make a log cabin front to go behind him.
Anyway, thanks for all of your encouragement.
