| | First attempt at a Mountianman walking stick. I have not posted much in the past few weeks, it`s as if the honey-dos have had the best of me. I have had some time to carve and here is the result of my effort for a Mtn Man head on a walking stick. A friend of mine dropped off a couple hickory sticks some time ago and wanted me to carve him a stick. I really liked carving the hickory as long as I kept my tools sharp. Thanks for looking!!! I`m currently working on a greenman from Irish`s book. I`ll keep you updated on that one. I`m using a piece of black walnut for thew greenman, it should be interesting...Bruce |

| | Re: First attempt at a Mountianman walking stick. Thanks Vic, I used a carving jack made by flexcut I really like this knife with the different blades but it does have a down fall. When using the carving blade the skew blade wants to work it`s way out and cuts you right in the palm, trying to figure a way that this does`nt happen. Gotta be carful though if you just wave your hand by the knife it will cut...lol..Bruce |

I have done some wood spirits, a couple walking sticks, the chestnut log, I just started on a greenman relief carving. But to answer your question I have some wood drying to do some more walking sticks...Bruce | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
