Default First 2005 carving

First carving of the NEW Year. Worked on this one while visiting In-laws in Oklahoma.

Could be called Santa Or Frenchy. Haven't decided yet.

Kenny, I like that! The expression on his face is really great. That's one of the things I need to work on. Mike

Thanks.
Mike, what I saw of your walnut keyholder carving, You are already there. I like it. Now, I need to work on my lighting and how to take pictures.
That is the same kind of Cottonwood bark with the Deft Satin finish and buffed with brown paper sack. For some reason, this one took more coats as there are 4 coats on this one where the other(Tree with Rocks) only took two coats. May have been a dryer piece. I try to use up even the smaller pieces of cottonwood bark with simple quick( an hour or two) carvings. Thinking strongly of opeing up a Craft store with nothing but home made crafts. Have several interested in the idea.

Nice bark carving full of expression. I have just moved my mother-in-law in just before christmas and havent picked up a knife or chisel since. I need to get going on my first 2005 carving.

Thumbs up Re: First 2005 carving

Colin, it looks like your a man that enjoys his family, grandchildren, mother inlaw. Nothing better than family. Very nice carving Ken, I envy your ability with hand tools. Really like these picture postings, so much easier to access.
