Default Fireplace mantles

I have been wanting to start carving fireplace mantles, and I was wondering if anybody could tell me where I might find some information such as books or patterns for carving mantles.

Right here at the Fox Chapel publising in their scratch and dent book sale there was a book on fire place mantles......
The sale is either ended or will be ending any time. There was a link to the selection in an earlier post on here somewhere. Good luck.

Try this:

Scroll down to the bottom. $4.99 is tough to beat! Sale ends on the 31st so you need to call soon. I ordered five and all were in excellant condition.

Yup, right here, Foxchapel's Scratch & Dent Sale. I got the book on mantles, good ideas and installation stuff. Not much on patterns and such, but a must have anyway for the other aspects. I would recommend getting the book on architecheral (sp?) carving for patterns . These books are at greatly reduced prices!
