Default Finishing up a little Bear

Well, now that the snow has finally all gone, I found a log that I thought had a small bear in it. Little did I know it would end up being a Bear's head on a Gopher's body. What you see is a 100 % chainsaw with the exception of some sanding on the snought and some chisel work around the eyes and tongue. I burnt it with a torch after texturing with the chainsaw, then wire brushed it. I am trying a welcome sign to hide some pretty bad feet.
On a lighter note , I talked to Colin today and he is very busy with tree carving commisions already , so it must be getting warmer in the once frozen north.

Just saw the same little bear wandering around in the chainsaw carving forum then 'lo & behold' here it is over here. Great work on both the bear and woodspirit! Thank's for posting.

Nothing wrong with that bear. Proportions may be off a bit, but what can you expect when you release a fellow like that from a cylinder of wood?

Love the expression on his face!

Thanks everyone, today i am going to put some outside protection on the little bear, probably some Spar type varnish to let him withstand the weather. This started as a big piece of basswood quite rotten , with a hole in the base.

Nice job Bob... I recently posted a couple of minature's in the same pose but without the welcome fish. Great job. An as far proportions go perhaps it's bear on the Jenny Craig Program! Looks good to me!

Nice bear Bob it must be the magic of that little Redmax. You woulld think that we live this close I would have seen it by now but still havent made it over to your place yet. Yes really busy with the tree carving commissions now I knew I would be as soon as the warm weather got here.
