It's "cross-grain pine"scientific name pinus illusio, from the Latin pinus for pinned (you used screws but the ancient Romans had only wooden pins) and illusio for Illusio Granato who first cultivated the tree.

It's quite common here in Michigan's Upper Penninsula but is not harvested often because it always takes two sawyers to make the cut, one from one side and another from 1/4 ways around the trunk, using specially designed chainsaws with the engines mounted at exactly 36.75 degrees to the chain..

Possibly Spanish Cedar, which strangely has nothing to do with Spain or the Cedar family.
