Wow! You know WV is the mountianeer state! Well done !
I set my son to college , now he is a mountianeer. But I was really surprized when one of the requirement was he had to have two pair of shoes!
one pair had to be 5 inches higher than the other. So to go to class he wears the right side shoe which is 5 inches and a flat sneaker on the left. Then when class is over he puts the 5 inch one on the left and the sneaker on the right. That way he can stand up straight !

| | Re: Finished Moutain Man Nice job Kenny you have been busy. I have a love for those mountian men I have to try one sometime. I really like the contrast with the walnut base. How come it took you from 1998 until now to carve it?

| | Re: Finished Moutain Man Thanks for the kind words.
Colin, To answer you question on why it took so long? Well, I started carving in 1988, but more off than on. Went to a couple a carving shows and several of the carvers had blanks and roughouts. I have always loved the Mountian man and have read everything I could on them and wanted to be one but was born to late. HEHEHEHEH. well, that was what the little bride always said.
I bought the Mt. MAN blank along with several other blanks at a carving show in Topeka Ks in 98 as my skills at that time was not up to carving a realistic Mt.MAn. Now my skills are a little better and tackled the Mt.MAn and the Indian Maiden as well as the Indian Warrior. However, I still have a long ways to go in my carving skills as I am at a place I should have been 10 years ago.
Several mistakes were made on the MT MAn but going to try another on as I traced around the blank before I started carving. But, the next Mt. Man will be awhile as I have an angel to get done and a fireman to get done for Christmas presents and whatever else comes down the pike!
Thank you all again. |
