| | Finished a carving! I found 1/2 an hour to carve on Christmas eve, and was able to finish a carving I began nearly two years ago.
Feels good just to complete a carving.
I still have a large box of unfinished carvings to work on when I find time.
I should have sent them out as unfinished Christmas presents to carvers.

| | Re: Finished a carving! It's a nice feeling, I agree Rick. Big or small, long term or small piece, finishing a carving gives me a sense of accomplishment too. One of the reasons I have been doing more carving lately, than ship modelling, quicker gratification. But......having admitted that..... the gratification that you get on a piece you spend of a year or two or six, is certainly worth the effort.

| | Re: Finished a carving! Good for you Rick, it must feel good to "Get one done".
I know the feeling, getting caught up in projects around the house and other commitments. I finally got a few little carvings done for Christmas and now am kind of back in the groove. I have one carving in the vise that I just gotta finish for a friend; it was meant to be done long ago.
I also have a razor about half done, and it is laying there on the bench calling my name; well, actually not my name but something not very nice. "Dude, I am naked steel here; howze about sharpening me up and giving me a handle for the love of Mike!".
Anyway; glad you got your power back, Merry Christmas and ![004[1]1](http://www.woodcarvingillustrated.com/forum/images/smilies/004[1]1.gif) New Year. Hope it a prosperous one!

Most of my unfinished carvings need their eyes carved.
Of course, I tell people my reason for carving the eyes last is it compels me to carve the very best eyes possible.
Actually, I am afraid if my unfinished carvings had eyes, they would cast disparaging, culpable looks and make me feel guilty.
