Thumbs up Finished 2nd Carving

I finished Mater and learned a ton about carving, both by hand and power carving. I had to use some ingenuity when figuring ways to carve parts and pieces that conventional tools were not delicate enough with. I'm color blind, so the paint scheme may be way off, but I'm overall pleased with the project.

For those of you that don't know, the subject is Mater, the tow truck from the Pixar animated film CARS.

Click the link and a slideshow should open up.

Thanks Doris... I had a little help in mixing some of the colors.... reds/browns/greens kill me. I can tell they are different shades, but I can't tell what color they are.. hahaha.

Great stuff!..I am suddenly inspired. I started carving because I am giving birth to a boy in June and wanted to have some carvings for his room. Somehow in my mind I just think of carving animals and caricature but a truck! That would be perfect.

Great job, you captured it well. There is going to be a very happy kid recieving that toy! Making things for kids is the best feeling ever!
