Default what to finish with???

Once you have something all carved and finished what do you treat it with. I have 2 dog and 1 bird carvings done (painted etc) but don't know what I should treat them with so that it stays nice.

You will probably get a different answer from anyone you ask but here is my two cents:
I think you are asking how to protect the carving.
It depends on the carving but I generally use Deft clear cote semi gloss.
On some I will (after the Deft dries) use a coat of wax.
