Default Female Woodspirit

Here is my rendition of a female woodspirit. The log is 2 feet high and beautiful butternut - what a pleasure to carve. Tried something new by providing her with a head full of leaves instead of hair. What a tedious task this was trying to layer the leaves, undercut, and put veins on all of them. I made a real effort to sand down the face with grits ranging from 100 to 800. She is sealed with danish oil and satin sealer. Hope you like her.
Patrick

Awesome carving Patrick! Love the leaves...how unique and soooo well matched to your facial carving... You've certainly captured the knack of carving eyes as she seems to look right at you...very natural looking. Thanks for sharing her with us and continued safe carving to you!

Excellent female face Patrick. Just when I think your work is the best you outdo yourself with another even better one. Do the leaves make her a "Green Girl" instead of a woodspirt?

The leaves are a nice touch - they blend in nicely with the natural tone of the piece.
