Default Female Form Completed

Well I finally got around to finishing the female form I posted here some time ago. Rather than censor it again, I would ask you click on the "Irishman" above, and then click on the short cut link to the free website I use for my gallery. Sorry to have you go and search out the pics but I don't know how to post a direct link. Some of you are OK with female forms being posted here but not everyone is comfortable given this is a public forum...so I want to respect the wishes of the site monitor. Again, I am frustrated with my camera (or my camera skills) as it caused shadows and glare spots. The pics of her face are not clear...and you will see some color in the wood just under her nose and on her backside. Very challenging carving and I had to be satisfied at some point so I felt I should say that "I am finished" and move onto other projects. The carving is from Ray Gonzalez's DVD which I recommend as he is an amazing carver.
Patrick

Patrick that is a grand piece you've done there... well worth the extra step we have been forced to take to see this piece of art.
thanks for sharing Bill

so the next will be one after your own design, patrick ? ... she turned out very nice, i like the way she is stilised, and still showing the essential shapes. the hair is inparticular pretty :-) well done, i am looking forward to your next one... btw, why are you calling the carving "form" ? (is my non-enough-knowledge of english language, i am sure)

Thanks for your kind words Bill, Curt, Doris and Claude.

Doris, the word Female Form came from the lingo I heard other carvers using. My local mentor was the one that told me to start doing forms as I need to keep challenging myself. Perhaps its a sculpturing term meaning "nude". Others here may know better than I.
I understand you are presently working on a form as well. It will be sometime before I get the courage to do one of these again. I would like to try a high relief of the human body at some point. Thanks for your comments.

Patrick

Hi Patrick, she is lovely, very nice carving. The only thing that bothered me is that I think the abs, tummey area takes away a bit from the smooth flow of the rest of the body lines.
I always enjoy seeing your carvings and the variety of subject matter.
I think your consideration of others sensativity regarding nudity was very nice of you.
I wonder if BobD might add a 'butt' symbol for us to use when there is nudity in a carving? The person starting the thread could place the symbol in the Title, then folks seeing the symbol would have a choice 'look or not'. Just a thought or not! lol

Hi Kathy, and thanks for your remark on the abdomen area..wondered if someone might notice that. In real life she doesn't look like she has a six pack. I softened that area quite a bit but the camera still sought out that area and seems to exaggerate it even further. I have to get proper lighting or a better camera. Another trick the camera played is the appearance of a bikini line on her waste. You can probably see a fade marking around her waste area. Next course will be photography 101.

This is a real change for you. Kudos for trying something new. I think she turned out very well, and look forward to seeing your own input and design used, perhaps in the high relief one you mentioned.
Your carvings always have so much character, and I think you could do something incredible with a female "form/nude" with the style we recognize as yours.

Patrick she is just lovely ,what kind of wood is it? I just love seeing stylistic Nudes , for your first nude it turned out great, I thought the stomach was a camera goof lol
I just wish people would be a bit more open about Nudity after all we all got it :-))))) and more carvers would adventure into this area.
Keeping showing your creations Patrick I love seeing them.
