Default Female face in walnut

I haven't posted a thread in many months so please excuse my lack of involvement. I just posted some pics in the gallery of a 14 inch female face carved in walnut. I added a coating of oil, and wow! It's a shame I'm not a photographer as the pics do not do this wood justice. The camera put shadows where there shouldn't be and distorted the quality of the carving. The best pics that turned out was without the flash but I found the pics look flat. Anyway, this carving is going to an annual women's shelter auction I donate a carving too each year. Hope you like the carving. Walnut is very hard but its a pleasure to carve once you get much of the wood removed. Here are a few more pics...with and without the flash...taken at different angles.

Nice to hear from the old...and new gang. I should have mentioned in the posting that I burned in her eyes. The blue hue in her eyes is from the camera.

Hi Patrick,

Good to have you back and showing your new carvings. She's as beautiful as your carvings always are. You've been missed.

Patrick,
She is a beauty. Thanks for sharing. Have the same problem with my new camera. Can't seem to get the lightin right with or without the flash.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark
