Thumbs up Feels good to carve again!

After about 3 months of not carving, it felt great to finally pick up a knife last night! Two little kids kept trying to crawl all over me, had to keep stopping to get them away from my tools, chips were all over the floor - but I didn't care. Then, my husband came home, saw what I was trying to do, and brought the 2 rug rats into the other room, giving me a good solid hour of just me and the wood.

I didn't carve anything fancy, just a simple snowman to get back into the groove. Plus, I figured if I tried doing something more challenging, it'd just frustrate me. He's cute. Just gotta find the time to paint him now. But, it just felt soooooooooooooo good, I had to share!

And for all those going thru the slump, I hope you'll soon find the motivation to pick up that knife. I can now breathe a sigh of relief! It's good to be back.

Good for you Jillsy. It also helps to have a supportive partner.
Glad to see that you're back at it.

I can appreciate the feeling Jillsy. I was laid up the whole month of December with tendonitis in my right elbow. Now, every time I pick up a knife I realize just how much I missed carving.

I'm glad to hear you're back in action. Enjoy!

Good for you Jillsy!! So I'm not the only one who gets chips all over the living room floor? LOL

I've been on 'vacation' too.. fibro had my hands out of commission. Tonight I decided to work on a head of an Angel. After an hour I realized I carved it in backwards. *rolls eyes* I'm thinking about Windsongs Bobble head now.. ROLF.

Will you show us your Snowman when your done?

Hey Marci,

Sorry I can't send a pic. I already gave him away and forgot to take one! No big loss though. He was just a plain old snowman, which reminds me, I need to start a new thread on that subject!

I carved a couple of steaks the other night. Does that count.
