I found that the pictures come out best when I set the camera to Macro - even though the carving is as much as 20 inches away - and sometimes more. The Marco setting gives the better picture - focus, color, etc. I usually turn off the auto flash but then you will need to hold still or have good lighting. I like to take my pictures out on the deck railing - too much snow now though.

| | Re: I feel really stupid It took me forever to learn how to resize the photos using the program Rob suggests...not because of his directions but because I just couldn't get it. But I did figure it out...those of you who have it, try this...it's even easier than opening up Paint or any other program:
1. Drag the photo to your desktop (so it's easy to find)
2. Right click on the file--this brings up a new file
3. Click on resize image (it's the fourth down from the top)
4. Click on Advanced
5. Click on Custom
6. Enter the size (480x640)
7. Then click OK...it will bring the file up on your desktop and say "Small"
That's all there is to it! I have photoshop, but it's easier to jsut click on the image and zip through it!
Hope this helps

| | Re: I feel really stupid For any Linux users out there you can upload from camera to computer with Digicam and then resize with the Gimp. You may be able to upload from camera to computer directly into the Gimp, but just guessing at that. |

| | Re: I feel really stupid Callynne, Can't say much about the pictures except, That is one fantastic carving. Can't wait till you have it finished. Love the little pixie fairy on the tea pot. Nice looking carving bench. Is that the same one you have had and put over the arms of your recliner? |

| | Re: I feel really stupid Beautiful work Callynne. Outstanding! Is that a Kitchen Fairy or a Tea Fairy or maybe just the Tooth Fairy taking a break? Well done.

| | Re: I feel really stupid Thanks guys, I'm glad you like her...and I'm really glad I figured out how to do the pictures!!
Yes, Kenny, that's the same portable carving table, I'd be lost without it! My son-in-law built the table that it's setting on. Works out perfectly, I can work in my carving room (used to be called my sewing room!) during the day, then just move things out to the livingroom to spend time with the hubby in the evening.
I think you'd have to call her a Kitchen Fairy, Bob, that's where I intend to put her. I have Blue Willow dishes so that's how I'm planning on painting the teapot....at least that's the plan, I drew up the design to fit the teapot...lots more detail to it than I realized! Thanks again for the compliments! Callynne | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
