Default Favorite tool

What is your favorite tool? I know this may vary a bit based on what you are carving, but...what is the tool you reach for the most.

Anyone who has spent any time on the board knows I'm partial to my Ashley Illes Hooked Skew. I use it as a knife, gouge, skew chisel. i also have a knife that Alfie Fishgap had made for me that I reach for nearly as often.

How about you....what are your two favorite tools???

My most used tools are my surgical scalpels that I described in an earlier thread. The blades are the sharpest that you can get and also cheap enough to throw away rather than try to resharpen.

Bob, I just finished a straight razor detail knife yesterday and even though I haven't epoxied the handle, just fitted it, I can't wait to use it and know it will be my favorite knife. It's wickedly sharp.

Bull nose chisel! That is my favorite for rounding elements, smoothing backgrounds and for general shaping. If you don't have one or can't find one at your local tool shop we have instrutcions on our website on how to alter a straight chisel to make one.

My favorite is a Ron Wells carving knife, it started out with 2 1/4 inch blade but i have broken the tip a time or three, so it is a bit shorter now.

I guess I have two favorite tools. An Ashley Isles Hooked Skew and a Shipley 21/4" knife.
