Default ! Favorite Carving Exchange !

Hey fellow carvers, if you have seen the Christmas ornament exchanges or the mini friendship cane exchange, you know it is a great way to get some fantastic carvings in your hand! I have entered two now and was blown away from the carvings I recieved from seasoned carvers as well as new carvers too.

Since so many were interested in the Christmas ornament exchange but were not sure they could do 20 I got the idea to start one now.

My idea is to carve your favorite thing to carve and exchange it with others that are carving their favorite thing to carve.

Carvings can be anywhere from 2 inches to about 6 inches.

No more than 10 in a group. This way new or slower carvers will have a chance to enter.

I would like to have the first group of 10 exchange their carvings between the 5th and 14th of February.

Deadline for mailing the first round of things you love to carve is Feb. 14 Valentines day.

What do you think? Do I have 9 other people willing to exchange their favorite type of carving?.

Yell back if this is something you would like to do.
Wanda

7 more - count me in! Whooop! This will be perfect! Just after Christmas is over and we still have a smidge of those winter doldrums kicking about - this will help push us into spring just right!

Wanda,

Sounds like a winner to me. But at your size range I'd have to glue several together to make the minimum 2" hight. I also like the more reasonable maximum number of participants in the exchange.

Tom, you made me look. I thought I put in 2 inches not 2 feet. I don't think anyone would mind getting several less than 2 inch carvings from you, I know I wouldn't.

I have also been asked about cost of postage. I have mailed my carvings in a bubble wrap envelope to the US and Canada for less than $1.50. For Canada, I claim it as a gift valued at less than $5.

I do not know what postage is to or from other countries. I would suggest checking with your local post office.

If we get more than 10 people show interest, we will do a second group of 10 people. We want a small group to cut down on the cost of shipping.

Thanks Wanda

Hi Wanda,

I would love to do this, I am doing the Christmas Exchange this year-first time ever-
I never asked the first time, but would anyone have any exceptions to Canadian carvers, as I know the mailing cost is higher to go in/out of the States
