Default Family vacation for the woodcarver too??

We're trying to plan for a family Summer vacation. Had a few questions. I was just looking for some ideas where you may have gone with small kids (ours are 9 and 6 years old) where it's fun for the whole family plus you the carver. Have you ever planned a vacation around a certain woodcarving show to attend for a day or just a few hours? Are there any places (U.S.) that you would recommend? We have already did the Black Hills vacation and I did get to go to the National Museum of Woodcarving in Custer, SD which was ok I guess. Just looking for some ideas.

Thanks,

Chipper67

Hi you should look into Branson. there is Silver Dollar City that has a excelent wood carving shop plus lots of rides and roller coaster for the kids. then in town at the Grand village is Peter Englers shop.

Chipper67,
Check into The Smoky's. There is a lot of carvers and different crafters around Gatlinburg and Pigeon forge. Plus there are alot of carvers near by within a few hours. I don't have all of the particulars but was looking at it along the same line of thinking. This trip would offer plenty for the carver as well as for the children on non carvers of the family.

Safe carving and God Bless,

Mark

I agree with Mark the Smokey's are the best Smokey Mountain has class all summer in Townsend,Tn a great things to do and see on both sides of the Mountain have done it many times. If your family are campers or motelers I like my base to be Townsend,Tn just 20 mins to Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge,Tn thru Wears Valley RD. Townsend Vacation Guide - Great Smoky Mountains
Hope this helps ,CB
