Default At the Fair

I picked Connie up after work and we drove up to the fair in Newland NC,yesterday evening. Connie won with her cannings,6 blue ribbons and 2, 2st place one, plus a big blue ribbon with her baby quilt.

I won three blues on my 3 carvings. They dont give great big ribbons but just to place is good enough for us. Alot of the ladies in that area know of Connies canning.

It was nice but some what dusty in the tents, they dont have buildings. We ate some fine Bar-B-Q and baked beans, course you know me,will all the wood chips on the ground,I picked up a few. Guess people thought I liked chewing on them for tooth picks after we ate?? Yea right,I'll clean and carve them today. Then next year,I'll enter some of thier own chips in the fair.{got to get our money back from paying at the gate some how}...You know me Im Mr. Cheap!!

Hard taken pictures in the tents, lighting was so bad plus the sun coming through the red/white tents make it hard taken good picts.

Hope you enjoy the picts,we had a good time. I made a few new friends, the ann-i-males,the pigs honked at me,Hey take my picture Mr.

Congrats on all the ribbons. Connie could probably make a quilt out of all of those ribbons one of these days. Look forward to seeing what the wood chips turn into.

WOW Connie, 9 ribbons, that was well worth the work and entering. Kind of a neat feeling to win at the fair where everyone can see. Tops the Day. Forrest I'll bet that was all you entered was 3. That was for sure a blue ribbon day. Congratulations both of you. By the way Forrest who are your friends that you got the pics of?? I see Grayhorn and Rooster, but who were the other two?

Hi Forrest,
Looks like y'all had a great time. I enjoy the fairs and the smaller ones remind me of when I was a little younger and got to go to them ;O). Congratulations on all your wins!

Merle no Lawrd we eat her canning!! Makes my mouth water even thinking about how good her jellies are. Plus shes taught me alot of the ways to cook different foods. Wish Id had her all my life Merle!!

Yall going to your fair this year? I never will for get, your daughters selling at the fair and you had some carvings there when lady ask you,How much do you want for that cane? You knew you like it and told her,$1000.00 I laughn still at this!! Ribbons are nice but to me its the enjoyment of working to get them that counts. Once Ive carved something, its over in a way,the part of creating is my thing.

Im strange Merle but fun being that way! You know!!

Thanks my ole friend for going to the fair here with us.

Your old Tn buddy,Forrest
