Default Elk on the loose~

I had picked up some scrap wood and this slab knot was in the bunch. Its 8 X 23 inches, relief carved and painted. The back has tough bark still on it,this knot has been drying for 2 years. I dont know what type of wood it is?? It was hard wood,I know that--LOL

Your thoughts are welcome. Thanks---Tn

P.S theses are Elk,the moose are behind them. duhhhh---lol

Well my Miss-Bar-B-Q'n friend, Thanks! I dont know about being a artist but its fun to me creativing something from nothing.{never bought wood to carve on} Course the part I hate is sanding cleaning up the old wood before I get to work with it but its rewarding onces its done. Thanks again Daddio!

Forrest ole friend ... Love your painting as always ... Your carving is great .. but your painting is my favorate ..

I love the scene on the plaque ... definately your own special style of painting .... What colors ...

For those of you who havent seen Forrest painting up front.. while I was in Tenn .. I got to visit with this wonderful gentleman and he gave me a feather with a deer painted on it .. it's one of my cherished posessions .. It;s beautiful .. If you havent had a chance to see his work in person .. believe me .. the pictures dont do it justice .. This guy can paint and make anything look good ...

Great job Forrest and I hope you dont mind me sharing this beautiful feather with the rest of the forum ..

Thanks

Gene

VERY nice! THe feather is also outstanding. Makes some of us hackers and choppers wish we could do that.

That's a very nice relief. I'm always drawn to carvings that keep some of the raw material look and you've captured it very nicely in this unique piece of wood. Gene - your's is very good as well. You both did a good job of the painting. Thanks for sharing your carvings.

Gene if I had known you was going to post that old turkey feather,I would have given you a better one! Id painted 3 doz last winter for art shows this spring,I had 2 left over,I didnt feel the buck on it was that good. But Im glad you liked it, I will send you something better soon thats carved. Im glad you like the painting for its hard painting a moose on a Elks body---I was so tired when Id posted this. But the main thing,I got the right colors! LOL I appreciate your input as always. Thanks so much--your friend,Forrest
