Lightbulb Efficient tools/tips for stone carving

I have been asked “Can you suggest more efficient tooling for this type of carving?”
My list
Metal Chisel, masonry bits, wire saw, power tools, and wet sand paper.

This is my experience in carving stone in a nut shell; the stone I used was from Canada (brown or green). I carved a camel from a photograph. There was a lot to remove from the middle (leg area). The piece I was working on was flat so I was able to draw my side and top view. Then what I did was use drill bits (masonry) as close to the positive space (camel) then used a wire saw (the kind we use to cut off antlers) to cut out the area (hole to hole). I also found the wire saw useful in other areas. Rasp files and other type of files and sandpaper. I finished off with wet sandpaper, place it in the oven (to warm it up). Then apply wax let it cool and buff it.

Talking about stone carving makes me want to get back into it.

it all depends on the type of stone you are working with... in my opinion there's no more important tool than rasp files of all shapes and sizes.

happy carving

Hilti diamond cut off wheel on a 4" side grinder, Hilti diamond cup wheel on a side grinder. Hilti diamond points and cutters for your die grinder. Bush hammer attached to a TE 35 Hilti chipping hammer. Ceramic tile grout saw and grout removal tool, and last but not least a high quality respirator. A engine hoist and some heavy duty nylon slings are handy to move and unload heavy stone.

One thing I forgot to mention the dry cut diamond wheel cuts the hardest stone the same way a Saburrtooth cuts wood fast.
