Default E.J. Tangerman books

I don't get to crow often but I will today!

I've always been a fan of E.J. Tangerman books. I have "Woodcarver's Pattern and Design Book".

I just bought 1001 Designs for Whittling & Woodcarving($16.95), Whittling and Woodcarving ($12.95), and The Big Book of Whittling and Woodcarving ($16.95). I paid $1 for the first two, and $9.65 (coulda got it cheaper but this one had free shipping) for the last. Throw in $6 for shipping and handling, and I have 3 classics (used but in at least good condition) for less than $18!!!

As they say, the power of the Internet!

What a resource. There's many years of carving in those books.

Good find, Bob. I have to say, though, and I risk losing my carving license for saying it, that I was kind of disappointed by Tangerman's "Design and Figure Carving." I found it in a collection of a thousand or so books that my wife inherited.

There is some good information in there: guidelines for human figure dimensions, for example. And a lot of illustrations, but the illustrations are pretty small. Maybe I'm just not yet skilled enough to make good use of the book. I'll hang on to it and take another look after I gain more experience.

Thanks Dave. I used Addall.com to initially find them. Then I searched using Google. I ended up ordering through Biblio.com which gave me free shipping on the most expensive of the 3 books, and since I ordered 2 of the books from the smae book seller, I save some more money on s&h.

I'm waiting to see the books, but I think I will have a 2nd copy of 1001 Designs for Whittling & Woodcarving--I didn't realized I had the book already. If I do, I will probably sell one here--cheap. Will post when I know for sure.
