Default E-Bay Basswood

Has anyone ever purchased basswood on Ebay. I know the quality has to do with the individual that was selling it; but wondered had anyone had any luck there. I saw 16 blocks of 3x3x12 for $23.00 dollars, of course this included $25.00 shipping and handling but that is still not a bad price for 16 blocks.

I mean it did not include $25.00 for shipping and handling.

id be leary-- not because of the price-- but you have no idea how old the wood is-- and the older it gets, the drier it gets and the HARDER it gets-- if you use power tools i guess it might be ok. id not risk it- that advice is free and may not be worth the cost.

Most of the basswood and Butternut I've seen on E Bay are still green and have to be dried out. Before you buy make sure they are dried or you'll have to wait for it to dry or chance the wood cracking after you finish the carving.

Sean,
You might try looking at Full Cycle Woodworks for your basswood. They are in Rogersville Tn. I think you will be happy with them. You can contact me if you can't find them on the web.

Good luck,
Barry
