Default driftwood Elk

This past wk end we went to the Gatlinburg,Tn area in the mtns near the Smokies, Had a nice cabin on the top of a mtn there. While driving in that area near a steam, course the whole trip I was on the look out for some found wood,I spyed some wood on the side of the back woods road we were driving on.
Alot of this wood was rotted but I broke this piece off and after it had finally dried this past week, yesterday I carved a half/round elk in it. Painted it this afternoon.

Its 1 3/4 X 3 X 6 1/2 inches. Its all carved{antlers also} from one piece. No add ons. I now see from the pictures I just posted, his left front leg looks too big,Id painted the grass under his belly too dark and in a photo it makes that front leg look too big. But looks ok while viewing it in hand. P.S I stopped counting my mistakes after number #50 .............LOL

Your thoughts or comments are more than welcome,Thks' Forrest

I'll have to keep my eyes open for drift wood this summer! That is quite an Elk with the antlers incorporated right into your carving. When I first saw your picture I thought it was a relief but you carved the whole piece of drift wood. I have had friends tell me to carve out sections of drift wood and leave the rest to the imagination. I haven't carved any yet. There is something about drift wood that appeals to carving admirers. Well done on the Elk.
