Default Dragon for my Nephew

My Nephew turned 18 this past week, so I needed to make him something that I hope he will keep forever. He's always had a thing for Dragons, so this is the result...
David's dragon 2x1.jpgDavid's dragon 1x1.jpg
Sorry about the picture quality...
It measures 9.5" X 6" X 2"
Basswood, acrylic paint, nutmeg stain and sealer.
From Shawn Cipa's, "Carving Fantasy & Legend Figures in Wood".
Comments and critique welcome.
Thanks for stopping by to see...

Dragons aren't the easiest thing to carve but looks like you pulled this one off beautifully. If your nephew manages to hold on to this one for 50 or 60 more years he'll have a nice heirloom to pass on. Nice work!

Jim, I like your dragon. I think you may be having the same problem taking photos I had. My husband, a camera bug said my camera was focusing on the background, like your toolbox instead of the carving. He suggested a simple white sheet or white paper held up for the background,
Wouldn't you know, he was right! It worked like a charm EXCEPT when trying to photo unfinished bass wood. Then use a dark paper.

Thanks Mark, Dave, BeckyLil, and Bonnie. Thanks Curt, JJireh, and Wanda.
It was well received. He had a bunch of great gifts, but I think this one stood out. I've made him Dragon themed gifts before, but this is the first carving I've made for him.
Wanda, the quality of the camera has something to do with it as well. It's a cheapo Wal-mart camera that I got like 6 or so years ago. It has served me well for $50 though, so I really can't complain. I hope to be updating to a better camera by the end of the year. Nice toolbox though, huh? lol.
Again, Thanks everyone. Your coments are truely appreciated.
