Default Downeast Woodcarving & Wildlife Art Show

Hello, everyone....spent the weekend in August, ME at the show and took a few pics that I thought I would share with you. Some great stuff there, for sure!!
These 5 were the big winners...the eagle is a relief, the fish coming out of the water was unbelievable, the hawk (pic doesn't do it justice) was unbelievable and the pic next to it shows what it had in it's claw....ugh....and the horn took everything, including Best of Show. Bonnie

Took a lot of pics, but here are a few more of my favorites.....met some really nice people and the show was well run. The judges gave each and every carving a number-scale critique based on craftsmanship, accuracy/originality, essence of species or subject, artistry and degree of difficulty. First time I've seen that done. Great show! Bonnie

Do you know if the horn is one solid piece of wood or several. All the carvings are simply wonderful. Thanks for taking the pics. and the time to post them...

Butterfingers....I had asked that same question and was told that the horn was carved in a few pieces and put together....that it was not woodturned, but carved. It looked like it was joined in a couple places just after the bowl of the horn, but I have to tell you, this was an incredible piece of art, no matter how it was done. I was very impressed. I was also told that it is going to be entered in the upcoming New England Woodcarvers show in Bedford, MA in the middle of Oct. Bonnie
