Default when is it done?

does anyone else experience this?
I carve a figure, spending usually more hours than someone who really knows what they are doing and Im content with it and put it away.
two week later I look at it and think, well thats not done, and take it down and commence to whacking at it. I finally get done and put it away
two months later I look at it and say, why did I do that like that? and he needs more....

is it my eye improves at time goes on? how come I dont see those things in the beginning? Mayube Im in too big of a hurry to "get done" just wondering if anyone else has that feeling

Join the crowd, since I enjoy carving wildfowl, sometimes I do the same,
I set aside for a week or so. Then I can see my mistakes and only if theses
mistakes can be adjusting,I will finish the project.

The way to prevent this, if you really want to, is to not put it down, but begin immediately to paint or otherwise finish the item.

It's usually done when I am tired of working on it....

Claude

This is the thought that occurred to me, but oftentimes painting will bring out things you want to re-carve, so sometimes you just can't win!

It's the difference between a Pro and the Hobby Carver.

The Pro gives it 10 hours, the Hobby Carver 100.

Thats why the Pro makes money, the Hobby Carver always pays more than he gets back.

I think "done" happens moments before "ruined"
