Default Doctor says: "No Carving For Two Weeks"...

I have been having a re-occurence of the old "tennis elbow".
The doc put me on Celebrix and then last Friday he gave me a shot of cortizone. Ahhhh, that feels so much better.
Just hope the wife doesn't lose her patience with me, being up stairs instead of down in my work shop!

Sorry to hear this, Dull Knife. I really wish I could start a carvers therapy business. Sounds like I could be rich.

News like this make me very sad because with the right treatment, you could be carving in a couple days instead of weeks.

Did he give you a strap for your arm? There is a "thing" called a "tennis elbow strap" that could be very helpful. It is basically a velcro strap that has a pad (some don't have the pad and they are not as effective). The pad goes about 2 finger widths below the place where the doctor put the shot in (should be the place where it hurts the most).

What the strap does is - where the pad is - it changes the fulcrum so that the muscle is not pulling directing all its force to the insertion point.

Talk to your doctor about it.

Sounds to me like you need a sharper knife and a new doctor - just kidding, take it easy and get better soon.

Been there, done that with the tennis elbow - no fun at all.

Get better real quick Dull Knife. I haven't been able to carve for 2 plus weeks now with my shoulder and neck pain. Hope to get back at it this week.

This isn't my first bout with tennis elbow. I wore a strap the first time, but it didn't do a thing for it, and being as how I was doing a lot of heavy lifting, I finally went to the doc and he gave me a shot. That worked, and the pain did not return for almost 25 years, until about a month ago.
