Default What do you call that hair thing?

My daughter wants me to carve her a thing that neither of us know the name for. I have seen them in girls' hair, and holding buttonless sweaters closed. It consists of an open circle and a peg (sometimes a chopstick). The hair (or sweater is pulled up partly through the center of the ring, then held in place by inserting the peg through the bundle of hair.

If anyone can tell me what this adornment is called, I would be grateful. She wants me to make a nicely carved and finished wooden version (actually, two of them). The first would be given to her grandmother along with the sweater she (my daughter) knitted for her, to hold it closed. The other one she wants for herself for her birthday in July. I can find pictures on Google images for inspiration if I know what it is called. A pattern would even be better. Help, ladies!
