| | Displaying carved spoons? Hello everyone,
I just started carving my first spoon and I was seeking some ideas on how best to display a spoon(s). This first spoon I am carving I am finding it more challenging than I thought it would be, but it is fun to do. Heck, what part of carving is not fun- ha,ha. Anyway, I just wonder what some of you who have carved spoons before done to display them. Have you mounted them on a board and then hung them on a wall or have you just hung them individually somehow on a wall. Or, also, if you have entered them into a woodcarving show have you just laid them on a table by themselves to be judged or did something different to display them. If possible, please post some pictures on your carved spoons.
Thanks everybody,

| | Re: Displaying carved spoons? Chipper, I haven't carve any spoons yet but have seen them displayed differently at shows. Both by themselves and mounted on another piece of wood. The lighter collored woods were displayed with a darker wood base. Pretty and contrasting in woods and color. I had thought of displaying some(when and If I get them Carved), in a grouping. Hope this has helped a little. |

| | Re: Displaying carved spoons? How about this....cover a piece of cardboard or wood with felt.....what ever colour suits your fancy, and thread a piece of thin wire through the back of the felt and around some "out of the way" part of the spoon, like a joint or part of the design. Then hang the whole thing on the wall, or place in a shadow box.

| | Re: Displaying carved spoons? Hey Y'all,
At the house my wife "had" me carve a board with various fruits(kinda cornicopia style) and I mounted 8 shaker pegs to the bottom face . two keyhole slots in the back for mounting to a cupboard.
As far as display for a show a square base with a crescent moon style slot in the shape of the spoons bowl and stand the spoon up in it.
At craft sales I lay them on a white cloth in a row so people can see them all.
hope that helps

| | Re: Displaying carved spoons? make a small stand, maybe T shaped with the crossbar on the bottom. Put a flat piece of wood on top and cut some slots in it to fit the handles of the spoons, the top design will keep them from falling thru. I prefer this to cutting up the back of the spoon or putting hangars on them. |

| | Re: Displaying carved spoons? Thanks everyone for the good ideas about displaying carved spoons. They all sound good. I'll have to post some pictures on how I decide to display them when I get done.
P.S. Does anyone know why my signature link, right below here, to my picturetrail site does not seem to work? It's not highlighted??? |
