Dayton Show-Day Two Sunday morning started with a shot of confidence when we arrived to find a note that the Cowboy with the saddle was wanted in Arizona. No sooner had I boxed it up than the wife sold two more busts. That put us well over the hump and guaranteed another successful show. We're heading west tomorrow with renewed confidence and lots of ideas on how to fill the empty places on the table.
It was a real treat to meet those of you on this forum who were able to make it to the show, and although I was out walking the floor when a couple of you came by my wife told me all about your visit. It was also great to renew old friendships we had made the last time we were in Dayton six years earlier.
Sunday is a day the individual carvers have a chance to kind of kick back and check out the work of other participants or exchange ideas. Laughter and smiles seemed to be everywhere so I guess my feelings about this show were shared by the others.
While a lot of shows we've attended seem to be winding down with fewer participants showing up each year, the Dayton show seems to be flourishing. It's easy to see the reason for this in how well organized it is. I spoke to Don Worley who told me that in just a few weeks, after everyone gets a chance to kick back a little, the show committee will hold a meeting to discuss the show and start planning for the next one. These guys and gals are organized and the result is a successful show.
For those of you from the Dayton club you have our thanks for allowing us to participate and we look forward to seeing you again next November. |
