I will agree there are some good sells there. I saw carvings ranging from $34000.00 to $10.00.
And I have to tell you , one of the most enjoyable stops , was the boys from NC. Really nice work .

Garry, were the "boys from NC" from Catwaba Valley? They do have some nice carvings. Hopefully I'll be with them next year! |

| | Re: Dayton Carving Show ? A real treat about watching Don Mertz is he carves 99% of the carving with a old folding pocket knife. How he get the detail he gets,he's a master at it.And you won't meet a nicer couple then the Mertz's. |

Yep those are the ones. The one gentleman was working on a Santa Cypress knee. Was talking about the class you all had and how he is trying to learn a new way.
But his work was impressive and he was super. |

| | Re: Dayton Carving Show ? It was great to finally meet the Heinecke's in person. They're even nicer in person that on the phone. It was neat seeing a fellow ask them what kind of payment they accepted, cause when they said an IOU would work the guy looked Dale as though he was kidding him. I got to grab some nice pieces of butternut from them. What helpful and friendly people! I told them we bragged about them on our message board and they appreciated that.
Gary, somehow we were at the show at the same time but must have been hiding from each other. Sorry I missed you. |
