Default {Dancing with Wolves}

I feel like I have been {{{{dancing}}}} with the little wolves I have been trying to carve. Most times after my last art show in Oct,I have alot of free time to just carve what ever I like but ever since my last show,something has been taken up some of my carving time!

I now have several people emailing me want some of the hand carved wolves I have carved. Carved one little wolf yesterday from a block of hard red mahogany,hes 3/4 of a inch by 3/4 of a inch with a ring in him for a charm braclet.Then I carved another one from the mahogany and painted him.

I also carved a larger wolf as a relief in hard water maple.{course painted him} Just something I wanted to do.
Alot of the people that want my carved wolves,some want them smooth and plain with out any details and others want this or that,so I will be carving some of diffrent types.

I still have alot of room to improve on theses,I can see the forest for the trees but thats not helping me for Im not that good in carving in the round which is alittle tough for me but I will keep trying.My middle name should have been------------->Try.............LOL

Just thought Id share theses on our board.

Thks' Forrest

P.S. My little wolves are too fat plus jug headed and thier mouths are too larger. But I will correct this on my next ones. Or my name isnt Wolvey!

Forrest, I don't see a thing wrong with your little howlers! The fact that you managed to get that much detail into something that small (the teeth!) puts my jaw on the floor. Those are pieces that anyone would be proud to own.

I can see why those wolves are in demand...and the small one's - sheesh! If I could carve as good as your paint job, the battle would be half won. As for your worry about the head appearing large, just try and keep wrapping it around. You sometimes loose parts of the head this way but it will lean down the fullness of the face and head.

Hi Forrest,

Very nicely done. Your range of carvings is growing.

I'd hardly call that a block of mahogany, more like a chip.

Thumbs up Re: {Dancing with Wolves}

Excellent work as always Forrest, and dang that little one wow Thumbs Up. Man that is tiny and your painting on the toher ones really makes them even better. I agree with Patrick if ya want to make them look even better wrap the head around, and if ya need referance photos there are so many sources for wolves. Thank ya for sharing and keep up the great work.
