Default Cypress Knees

If anyone is interested in trying cypress knees, the lady I usually buy mine from has a few on Ebay. Believe me, she has the nicest, best priced knees on Ebay with shipping charges that are near exact cost. Not overly charged like all the other knee sellers are!

Colin, if you were to email her with your address and postal code I'm sure she would ship to Canada. She's a very friendly and lets me know when she puts more knees up for auction. I've got a dozen or so out in the garage now and more then a hald-dozen started carvings I need to finish up. Almost wish I would lose this job so I could go back to carving every day instead of only the weekends and once in awhile in the evening.

I live in southern Indiana and planted several Bald Cypress trees in the sixties. They have a lot of knees. Small to quite large. I am trying to find out how to harvest, what it does to the trees, and how long after harvesting can you carve. Also how do you determine a fair price.

Thanks

Twig Carver, here's a site that I'm sure can give you what you need to know about harvesting cypress knees. USFS Wood Products Laboratory in Madison, Wisconsin. I was absolutely amazed at the cooperatio I've gotten from them on several questions I had. Imagine that, a government agency that actually responds! Wow!

If they can't they can direct you to where you need to go to get the best info possible
