That is AWESOME!! You did get a lot of detail in it. I wish that I still had the pictures of the one I did, but they got lost in a computer crash.

I have done the one and it was really hard to me...or I thought it was. The big problem is that I have 11 more to carve!!! ahahah. Well, at least I tried it. So far I think I will stick with cottonwood bark and the rustic stuff. Thanks for all the comments though!

I've carved about 75-100 cypress knees in the past 4-5 years. I do about 90% of the carving with power. Your tools will have to be really sharp especially to cut across the grain. If you'd like I'll send you a couple of pictures of the Santa's I carved.

I would really appreciate the pictures. I just ordered a power carver today, I ordered the Foredom. It is just too tough to try to do with gouges and knives. Thanks for the help!!

I have carved several using power carvers. They were boiled and stripped of their bark.
