David, I like it, him or....! Really cool! How big is it? Wasn't it out of Norfolk pine or something? You did a great job!

Thank for the comments and questions. Good memory Sharon. Yes the wood is Norfolk Island Pine (Araucaria heterophylla) Araucaria heterophylla - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Size is about a foot in all dimensions (see yardstick and gouge in pic below). The critter body and wings were carved from two separate blocks similar to the one in the pic below. I may use the remaining block as a base for this piece, possibly another guy, inverted on his back holding up the main piece.
