Default Crab apple

Has any one ever carved Crab apple? I just cut a bunch down for some landscaping, and didn't want it to go to waste.

Like most fruitwood it is hard and gets harder as it ages. If you want to carve it try to do it when its green.

I agree with Paul - very hard wood once it's dry. Turns a beautiful shade of brown once the wood is dry and exposed to air.

I've used crabapple and apple for my needles. They look very similar though crabapple tends to have a little less heart wood so you get reddish brown and cream streaks in the larger pieces.
