Default Cowboy Bust

Hello,
Here is a cowboy I have been working on. It is still a work in progress.

I have been carving since Fall of 2010, stopped carving after Christmas of last year, due to the frustration of how I was carving. I then started studying the work of Lynn Doughty, Jim Quilici, and a few others.

After meeting with Jim, and seeing his amazing work in person, the passion for carving, was re-ignited.
Thank you Jim, Lynn, and others who have shared this awesome hobby with me.

Please let me know what you think ,
All comments, positive, negative, pointers, criticisms, etc... are welcomed.

If you see something I don't, point it out, that is what makes up better carvers.

Cheers
Brian

Don't stop now, Brian. Looking good. I like your attention to detail. Clean looking carving. There would be more to the tip of the nose, lower top edge of nostrils, on my carvings, but that is a choice. Will await the finished product. John

If you put the federal government in charge of the Sahara Desert , in five years there'd be a shortage of sand.

You can't go wrong with a teacher like James Quilici or Lynn. I am a fan of both Men.Great carvers! You will do well with James and it looks like you already have. Great looking carving piece.

It takes practice, study and determination. Looks like you are on the right path. Lynn's videos are great tutorials. Many of us follow them.

Brian,
He is coming along just fine. Keep up the good work, and don't give in to that old frustration bug, It bites everyone every now and again. Here is a little thought to keep you going. I keep carving beacuse of the joy it brings me, whether its joy from a completed project, learning some new technique, and most importantly, because of all of the great people that it brings across my path. The friendships are priceless!

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Mark,
Thank you for that, I will keep that with me. The frustration can be, well, frustrating I guess. If I look at it like you mentioned, I think that will help keep it away!

Thanks
Brian
