Default Cowboy

After looking at the Boots I posted 2 or 3 days ago Tom Ellis said I had to do a full size Cowboy so here he is.
He is 10 inches hign, Basswood, Acrylic paint. This is the first carving project I tried to do when I took my first carving class 25 years ago. The instructor gave absolutely no safety instruction no thumb guards, no Glove and I cut myself up so bad I had to quit the class. I had bandages on every finger and two on some. I did'nt go back to carving for about 20 years. I got him back out about 2 years ago and started on him again , finished the carving part and set him on the shelf for another 2 years. This is the Cowboy in my Avatar pic when I joined WCI. I got him back out again after Toms comment and painted him yesterday.

So if you started the cowboy 25 years ago and just now finished him, would this be considered an antique carving or a new carving? He looks good. Now, the next obvious question is, are you going to carve a cowboy to fit the boots in your other post?

Too make a long story short "NO"
If I tried to carve something that big I never would get it done.

Nice little cowboy Larry. I'm glad you were able to cover the blood stains with a little paint.

Larry,

Glad to see him finished. 25 years in the making. Well worth the wait. You not only have a nice carving but you got a good story to tell with him.

Safe Carving and God Bless,

Mark

Congrats on finishing him up. Well worth the effort imo and it has to be a great sense of satisfaction after so many years. He reminds me of the Marlboro Man.
