Default A couple Goddess'

I was asked by someone special if I could carve a Goddess. They gave me some pictures of Jewelry and charms they had found and said I would try. A few days later Kitaye posted her boot rack project. Boot Rack To my surprise she had a Goddess on one of the standards. It gave me an idea. So, from these sources I came up with these two Goddess'.

They are both carved from scrap pieces of 1" x 2" Pine I had in shop. I used a drill to open the area above the first ones head and a cooping saw for rough pattern on both. After that it was all pocket knife work or what I have learned to be termed from others here "old reliable", a good old fashioned box knife.

The first Goddess is right at 5 1/4" and the second which should be on a 'pedestal' is 7".

I hope you enjoy!

I like the one on the right! Nice womanly curves! I also like the way the grain of the wood flows through the body.

Very great! very very very great! I love The Goddess! I carve them in many shapes and styles. They are always a favorite. They make great gifts for all my women friends and your friend is especially lucky to get 2! I like the pedestle idea alot! Good job! I have loads of images if you would ever like any for future references
Don't forget to leave them face less... You can see your self in it easier

love them, kind of makes me thing , young and after raising a few kids,
you got to remember my age has a lot to do with my thinking,
if i could leave faces off all my carvings, but then that would be too easy, and that is not what carvers are about, right?
i love the plane lines and like Eddie said the grain flow, neat

Buckskin, I think you're done really well with these. If you have more in you, I think they will get even better. The curvy one is my favorite.

Thank you all so much. I may have a go at some more in the future. But, I have a few projects to attend to first.

Both are very nice Buckskin. I agree with everyone else and like the second one the best. Nice job.

Nice work, Buckskin. They remind me of the fertility godesses. Are you going to do more?
