| | | Contemplating a new article I am about to write another article for my website.
Would you find an article on carving whimseys interesting?
Like chains, balls in cages, fans, and other whittling tricks.
Thanks, Rick |

| | Re: Contemplating a new article Sounds like a good one to me, Rick! You might even include instructions for those working pliers I've seen carved from one piece of wood.

| | Re: Contemplating a new article Yes Rick, either an article on the genre itself or a how to would be good. Do you still carve many of these? I like to carve chains now and then as a way to let my hands work without my mind trying to 'create' something . Don |

| | | Re: Contemplating a new article Don,
I don't carve as many as I used to; maybe two or three a year. The last one was a 2x2x6 with a ball in a cage and a bust (of a guy with a crew cut) on top. I donated it to Northwest Carvers assn. for their annual show.
Al,
I have done a few pliers and I have one set with five pair out of one piece of wood.
Okay, thanks for the encouragement, I'll get started tonight. |

I look forward to seeing your new articles. Do you have any plans on doing anything up this way in the near future? |

Our next show in your area is in April at the Monroe fairgrounds.
It's the Quilceda wood carvers show; they changed it from September to April. |

| | | Re: Contemplating a new article Well, I typed part of the article last night, but I can see it is a pretty deep subject that will require several sketches. :'(
Sorry, each whimsey will not be step-by-step like the Christmas ornament article. :P
I have published the article even though it is far from finished.
I'll see how far I get on it tonight when I get home from work. :-/ | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
